Provost Garnett Stokes named Ajay Vinzé the new dean Trulaske College of Business on Sept. 30 after a year-long search.
According to [previous Maneater reporting](https://www.themaneater.com/stories/2016/9/4/search-business-dean-draws-close/), all four final candidates were considered “very strong.”
“His experience in the field of information systems and educational curriculum development as well as his outstanding experience as an academic leader will help him position the Trulaske College of Business to continue its record of success,” Stokes said at the announcement.
Vinzé is the former Arizona State University associate dean for international programs. While at ASU, Vinzé was also the director of the management information systems and executive masters of business administration programs.
Vinzé received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Delhi, his master’s of business administration from the University of Connecticut and his doctorate from the University of Arizona.
According to the MU News Bureau press release, Vinzé has a long career in researching “the importance of technology innovation and organizational relevance” through topics of data analytics, innovation and collaborative computing.
Vinzé also has experience in the private sector working as a member on the board of directors for a Taiwanese microchip company, a manager for a swine flu vaccination distribution team and a member of the Super Bowl Public Health and Healthcare Workgroup.
He is filling the position that Joan Gabel left in 2015 after Gabel stepped down as dean to become the provost at the University of South Carolina. Stephen Ferris has been the interim dean since then. Vinzé’s appointment will be effective on Jan. 1.
At the announcement, Vinzé said he was excited to join the MU campus.
“Trulaske capabilities coupled with broader academic strengths at Mizzou, and with the support of alumni and business stakeholders, I am confident that we will be ready and well-positioned to succeed,” Vinzé said. “I am looking forward to an interesting and exciting journey together.”
