A week after a lopsided loss to the LSU Tigers the previous week, Missouri came into The Swamp looking to steal a win from the No. 18 Florida Gators. The Gators are coming off of an extra week of rest after their game at home against LSU was cancelled due to safety concerns when Hurricane Matthew hit the Florida coast. Early on, about an hour before the game started, rain began to fall in The Swamp and it proved to be a factor early on as both teams went scoreless at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Gators would find separation after two field goals and two interceptions returned for touchdowns late in the quarter to put Florida up at the half 20-0 over the Tigers. The defense seemed to hold the Florida offense up fairly well early on, pressuring quarterback Luke Del Rio and forcing two interceptions in the first half. Aarion Penton and John Gibson snagged the interceptions. Early in the third, Missouri would threaten to make the game closer after John Gibson snagged his second interception of the game to set up a 1 yard touchdown run by Josh Augusta. However the Missouri defense could not hold Florida’s offensive attack as they would catch fire late in the third quarter to blow the game open. The Gators won by a final of 40-14. Up next for Missouri is their own Homecoming game back at Faurot Field against Middle Tennessee.
