This week, Don’t Mind Dying takes stage with The Flood Brothers for a Friday night in Columbia.
####The lowdown
On Nov. 18, four local bands will perform at Rose Music Hall, providing an interesting mix of blues, punk, rock and ska. The show starts at 9:00 p.m. and tickets are only $5.
####The artists
Don’t Mind Dying is a mix of blues and rock coming straight out of Columbia. They play frequently throughout Missouri and are known for their powerful sound. The band played at the Roots N Blues N Barbeque festival in the fall of 2012.
Accompanying Don’t Mind Dying, The Flood Brothers are another band who frequents the Missouri music scene. The band has played at Roots N Blues every other year since their debut in 2012. The members Gabe Meyer and Jacob Best are a duo with a history of nation-wide touring and adventures.
4 Skeevy Dudes adds punk ska to the show, joining the other bands to create a mixture of heavy vocals and instrumentals. The three members of the band are true to their music and give a performance that is best loud and live.
Dumpster Kitty is a rising band with four members. The self-proclaimed “swamp disco band” is from Columbia and has also previously played at Ugly Mugg and The Social Room.
####Noteworthy Tunes
**“Bullet”** by Don’t Mind Dying
This song is a heavy, bluesy mix that goes beyond the norm for both genres on their nne. This song reminds me of Led Zeppelin and Metallica combined.
**“Black Crow Pie”** by The Flood Brothers
Featuring a strange music video, this song is simple but great. The drums and guitar blend well with Meyer’s voice and make for a unique but familiar sound.
_4 Skeevy Dudes and Dumpster Kitty aren’t included, because of a lack of online content_.

**“Shoot to Thrill”** by AC/DC
I’ve heard this song during many childhood trips in the car and the Back in Black album by AC/DC frequented the radio of our silver suburban. This is a classic and fits perfectly with “Bullet” by Don’t Mind Dying.
**“What I Got”** by Sublime
This song isn’t exactly like the artists above but it’s another classic song that fans of the genre can appreciate.
