Missouri gymnastics continues to impress after dominating another meet and breaking another program record. The program vault record fell to the wayside on Sunday, with the team tallying a 49.425 on the rotation to better the previous record of 49.375.
Angie Kern kicked the rotation off with a season-best 9.85, then Madeleine Huber and Aspen Tucker set career bests with 9.85 and 9.875, respectively.
Kennedi Harris tied her career high with a 9.9, setting the stage for Morgan Porter’s incredible routine. Porter crushed it, scoring a 9.95 and demolishing her previous high of 9.9 against Auburn last year.
“It felt great because before, Shauna [Miller], my teammate, she’s like, ‘9.95, no higher, no less,’ and it happened,” Porter said.
The career high on vault was the cherry on top to Porter’s day, as she also earned wins on bars and all-around.
Harris also tied her career high on floor with a 9.925, winning the event. Harris chalked up her strong performances to work put in over the summer and the team as a whole.
“The team brings a lot of energy and I think that they were a huge factor in our success today,” Harris said.
Britney Ward made it a sweep and claimed the beam title for the day. Ward scored a 9.925, tying her career high.
Mizzou is now 5-0, setting the stage for a pivotal matchup against No. 4 Alabama on Jan. 20. Mizzou hosts Alabama at the Hearnes Center in the annual Pink Out meet. When asked about the Tigers’ hot start, Porter said the team is building from last season.
“Our motto is ready to climb, so we just keep on climbing up,” Porter said.
