
No. 15 Missouri men’s and No. 13 women’s swim and dive ended their regular season hosting the Tiger Invite on Friday and Saturday. During the two-day meet, 16 different Tigers earned victories in their events, and four Tigers earned two wins each.
To kick off the first day of the meet, junior Kira Zubar earned a pair of wins in the 500-meter with a time of 4:45.41 and the 1,650-meter free with a time of 16:24.63. Junior Sharli Brady took second in the 500-meter free with a career-best time of 4:46.19.
Other Tigers shined Friday as well. Junior Hannah Stevens earned victories in both the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter free with a time of 52.22 in both events. Sophomore Iliana Jones finished in the top spot in both the 50-meter free in 23.27 seconds and 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:04.16. Freshman Nick Alexander stood out, winning both the 200-meter individual medley in 1:47.59 and the 200-meter backstroke in 1:44.43.
Senior Nadine Laemmler took home the victory in the 200-meter individual medley in 1:59.54. Sophomore Luke Mankus earned a 19.99 in the 50-meter free to win the event, and freshman Giovanny Lima won the 500-meter free with a time of 4:26.21, ranking 10th all-time in Tigers history.
In the second day of the meet, the Tigers men’s and women’s teams claimed sweeps in events that included the 100-meter fly, 200-meter fly and 200-meter breast. Junior Erin Metzler-Seymour earned the win for the 100-meter fly with the time of 53.54, and freshman Daniel Hein won the men’s 100-meter fly in 47.66.
For the women’s 200-meter fly event, freshman Azra Avdic swam a personal-best 1:58.04, and senior Martin Wallace won the men’s event in 1:45.58.
The 200-meter breaststroke events were swept by seniors Fabian Schwingenschlogl and Ellie Suek. Suek finished with a time of 2:16.42, and Schwingenschlogl finished in 1:58.87 to take the win.
The 100-meter backstroke was won by senior Carter Griffin in just 47.47, sophomore Mikel Schreuders won the 100m free in 44.75 and sophomore Alex Walton won the 400-meter individual medley in 3:56.10 to finish out the meet.
The teams will be back in action in the 2017 Southeastern Conference Championships held Feb. 14-18 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
