Get sick in a good way with Datsik at The Blue Note.
####The lowdown
The Mizzou Electronic Music Organization and The Blue Note are presenting Datsik with Crizzly and Virtual Riot. The show is Feb. 15, and doors open at 9 p.m.
Tickets for the show are $22.50 until the day of the show, when the price goes up to $25.
####The artists
About eight years ago, Canadian artist Troy Beetles, aka Datsik, saw Excision live and decided to join the dubstep movement. Just two years later, he was creating music with the artist who inspired him, and together they helped cultivate the popularity of dubstep in the U.S.
Datsik has performed at events like Coachella and Electric Zoo and is on his Ninja Nation 2017 tour, which ends in Canada.
####Noteworthy tunes by Datsik
**“Redemption”** with Excision
Songs that incorporate multiple great artists are usually a smash, and this one is no exception. Excision and Datsik have collaborated in the past for “Deviance” and “8-bit Superhero.” Fans should definitely add this to their pre-show playlist.
**“Just Saiyan’”**
This song comes from the Sensei EP that was released in December 2016 and was one of the pre-released tracks. It drops right off the bat in classic Datsik fashion.
**“Nasty”** with Virtual Riot
This song really speaks to me, and the drop two minutes in is amazing. Valentin Brunn, aka Virtual Riot, is performing Tuesday, and hopefully we can expect Datsik to bring out Virtual Riot during his show.
####If you like these, try:
**“Papercut”** by Zedd with Troye Sivan
All seven minutes of this song are magical. The soft beginning flows and works perfectly with Sivan’s gentle voice. This song is dubstep done beautifully.
**“Razor Sharp”** by Pegboard Nerds with Tristam
This song is amazing and definitely something dubstep fans should listen to if they haven’t already. It actually reminds me of the music you would hear in the background of the boss level of a video game.
