Missouri men’s golf competed in its third tournament of the spring 2017 season over the weekend, recording an eighth-place team performance in Hootie at Bulls Bay in Awendaw, South Carolina.
The eighth-place finish for the Tigers was the team’s lowest of the season. In each of their six prior tournaments, they had finished no worse than third place as a team.
Despite a poor team performance, certain Tigers played well individually. Senior Euan Walker finished T-10 overall with a solid -3 score for the tournament as a whole, highlighted by a second round score of 68.
Senior Linus Lilliedahl was the only other Tiger to finish with a net score under par, finishing T-17 while shooting -1 for the tournament, closing strong with a final round of 68.
Junior Hayden Buckley and freshman Rory Franssen weren’t too far behind Walker and Lilliedahl, both finishing T-30 with a +1 net score. Sophomore Matt Echelmeier finished 80th overall with a score of +18. No Tiger competed as an individual at the tournament.
Host school South Carolina won the tournament with a team score of -20. Ben Wolcott of Ole Miss finished first individually with a score of -12.
The Tigers will compete at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee from March 31-April 2. It is the team’s final tournament of the regular season.
