Mizzou women’s golf may not have been selected to travel to an NCAA regional as a team this season, but it does have reason to celebrate: Freshman Jessica Yuen has been selected to play in the NCAA Regional in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
After qualifying as a team for a regional a season ago, the Tigers continued their success this year by placing an individual.
Yuen will compete May 8-10 in one of four NCAA regional events around the country for a chance to be one of 132 golfers to advance to the NCAA Championships in Sugar Grove, Illinois May 18-24.
Yuen is coming off of her second-best scoring round of the year at the Southeastern Conference Championships in Hoover, Alabama, where she finished -2 and tied for 17th place. She posted her best round of the year in the second round with a score of 68. It was the sixth time in nine events this season that Yuen finished in the top 20.
Along with her regional selection, Yuen earned one of eight spots on the SEC All-Freshman team. It is the second year in a row the Tigers have had a freshman selected, with sophomore Emma Allen receiving the honor a year ago.
