Junior point guard Terrence Phillips was suspended indefinitely from Missouri’s men’s basketball team Friday due to a “violation of team policy,” according to a statement from the team.
Phillips started all 31 games his freshman year and 23 of the team’s 32 games last season, but has seen his role diminished this season due to the addition of graduate transfer guard Kassius Robertson and the emergence of junior point guard Jordan Geist.
The statement indicated that the program is still deciding the next steps in Phillips’ future at Missouri.
“Phillips’ future status with the program will be determined in coordination with campus and department leadership,” the statement said.
Phillips was named to the 2017 Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Community Service Team and was the chairman of the 2017 SEC Men’s Basketball Leadership Council.
The absence of Phillips leaves Missouri with just three players with point guard experience available to play for the rest of the season: Robertson, Geist and senior guard Brett Rau.
