MU understands the difficulty of balancing all of your classes with extracurriculars and a social life. So when things seem like they might be getting the best of you, our university does what it can to help students succeed.
####1. Vending machines####
There are vending machines filled with school supplies scattered around campus. With so much going on as a college student, it can be easy to forget simple things such as pen or a pencil. In the Student Center, Ellis Library and Memorial Union you can find vending machines that are stocked with pens, pencils, white out and even exam booklets. Sophomore Ryan Baker has been grateful for these vending machines more than once when he needed something for class.
“I am so busy between all of my classes and work that sometimes I get a little forgetful,” Baker said. “I have used the vending machines several times, mostly to get pencils for exams that have scantrons when I forget to put one in my backpack.”
####2. Free computer access####
MU offers both Apple and Microsoft computers with programs needed for any project. Ellis Library has computers on all four floors that students are welcome to use at any time of the day. The Mac computers, specifically, are all equipped with complete Adobe Workshop programs for students to use. There is also the Microsoft Application Development Lab in the Reynolds Journalism Institute which has laptops, desktops and tablets that are all up to date with the latest Microsoft software.
####3. 24-hour study spots####
The Student Center and Memorial Union are open until midnight and Ellis Library is open 24 hours a day in order for students to sit down and study. In the Student Center, most of the tables are equipped with outlets to charge devices and there is a large table along the wall on the main floor with an outlet for every single seat. The basement floor has many couches and chairs for students to study in a quieter setting and even take naps. Memorial Union has a similar set up and on Wednesdays, Memorial Union hosts Comedy Wars at 9:30 p.m., which is a stand-up comedy performance to help students relax and relieve stress.
MU understands the busy schedules of students and how easy it is to make a mistake as simple as forgetting a pencil for an exam. With that, there is so much on campus to try and guarantee students’ success.
