Talking to the media on Tuesday before getting on a plane to Auburn, Alabama, Missouri men’s basketball coach Cuonzo Martin talked about how Saturday’s overtime loss to LSU would be a game he would never forget. One day and a blowout later, the Tigers delivered a result Martin might want to erase from memory.

In its second consecutive clash with a Tigers team, Missouri was on the wrong side of the box score, losing to Auburn 92-58. The loss extended the team’s losing streak to three games.

At 34 points, Missouri (10-9, 1-6 SEC) surrendered its largest loss of the season, and the largest point differential in a game since its second game of the 2017-18 season, a 44 point win against Wagner.

Senior guard Jordan Geist came a rebound away from his second straight double-double, finishing with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Sophomore forward Jeremiah Tilmon led the Tigers in scoring with 15 points in 26 minutes.

Their performances were overshadowed by Missouri’s struggles. The team turned the ball over 20 times and shot 60 percent from the line. The turnovers almost made up the difference in the game, with Auburn scoring 28 points of those mistakes. The Tigers of blue and orange also put up 15 second chance points.

Missouri will return home to face Vanderbilt on Saturday.
