Michaela Thomson
Michaela Thomson was nominated by Honors College Programming Board. She is studying biochemistry at MU.
Favorite Memory: Thomson said her favorite memory at MU was jumping in the fountain with the freshmen as a Summer Welcome leader.
“One of my favorite memories at Mizzou was being a Summer Welcome Leader,” Thomson said. “Having the experience of welcoming the whole freshman class to Mizzou and getting to know them individually and what they were interested in was amazing.”
Favorite food on Campus: Breakfast quesadillas from Baja Grill
Career goals: Thomson said she would like to go to medical school to become a physician and hopes to attend the MU School of Medicine.
Niki Mitchem
Niki Mitchem was nominated by Kappa Alpha Theta. She is studying secondary English education.
Favorite memory at MU: “Being able to partake in Tap Day this year was one of my favorite Mizzou memories,” Mitchem said. “Being able to take part in one of Mizzou’s long standing traditions is something I won’t ever forget.”
Favorite food on campus: Mort’s waffle fries
Career Goals: Mitchem said she hopes to earn a master’s degree in English, and eventually an EdD in educational leadership. She also hopes to be a high school English teacher in the Kansas City district.
Catherine Hoffman
Catherine Hoffman was nominated by Young Life. She is studying documentary journalism.
Favorite memory at MU: According to the Columbia Missourian, her favorite memory at MU was finding out that she was going to be a Summer Welcome leader.
Career goals: In the future, she hopes to create films for nonprofits or churches, since she is passionate about telling people’s stories to create empathy, according to the Missourian.
Madison Stemmler
Madison Stemmler was nominated by Kappa Kappa Gamma. She is a journalism student with an emphasis in strategic communication.
According to the Missourian, her favorite memories have been all the opportunities she has had at MU, including the Tiger Walk, academic opportunities and Greek life experiences.
Stemmler told the Missourian that she would like to be a strategist at an agency, but is also open to any changes her career brings.
Bri Dinwiddie
Bri Dinwiddie was nominated by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is studying sociology.
Favorite memory at MU: Dinwiddie said that her favorite memory was when she was a member of the 2018 Homecoming Steering Committee.
“It was the first time I actually participated, and I think that made me have a better love for the university and a better understanding of the university,” she said.
Favorite food on campus: She said her favorite food was the Country Fried Steak at 1839 Kitchen.
Career goals: Right after graduation, Dinwiddie would like to earn a master’s degree in social work, and she hopes to attend law school in the next six to seven years.
####King Candidates####
Devon Bennett
Devon Bennett was nominated by Involvement Ambassadors. He is studying health sciences with a minor in human development and family sciences and psychology.
Favorite memory at MU: Bennett’s favorite memory is about a friend he met during his Summer Welcome who had moved from out of state. She missed the Tiger Walk experience, so Bennett recreated it for her.
“She really missed her family during the Tiger Walk, so she missed that whole experience walking through the columns and having that unbelievable sense of ‘I’m here, I’m home,’” Bennett said.
Favorite food on campus: Chicken quesadilla at Southwest
Career goals: Bennett would like to go into student affairs.
“I’ve had a lot of role models in my time at Mizzou, and I want to be that person for students,” he said. “It’s hard to go from high school to college, and having a mentor helps students make that change.”
Derrek Hardy
Derrek Hardy was nominated by Alumni Association Student Board. He is studying agricultural education and hospitality management.
Favorite memory at MU: Hardy’s favorite memory was when the Alumni Association asked his family to be the Legacy Family during Family Weekend in 2018.
“We got to share our experiences at Mizzou because I am a legacy student with my mom, grandma and multiple aunts and uncles,” Hardy said. “We got to share the impact Mizzou has had on our family with the incoming legacy links who were freshmen.”
Favorite food on campus: Mort’s Shack Burger and fries
Career goals: Hardy would like to work in the marketing department in an agriculture-related company to help with promoting and planning its events.
Clayton Johnson
Clayton Johnson was nominated by Marching Mizzou. Johnson is studying health sciences.
Favorite memory at MU: Johnson said his favorite memory was his first pregame performance for Marching Mizzou.
Favorite food on campus: Turkey Club from Wheatstone Bistro
Career goals: In the future, Johnson said he would like to be a nurse practitioner.
Alex Hackworth
Alex Hackworth was nominated by Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. He is studying biology and psychology.
Favorite memory at MU: According to the Missourian, his favorite memory was when he and a couple friends were invited to go to the top of Jesse Hall and had a 360-degree view of the campus.
Career goals: In the near future, Hackworth plans to volunteer with the Peace Corps and later hopes to attend law school, according to the Missourian.
Mark Bremer
Mark Bremer was nominated by Missouri Students Association. He is studying health sciences with a focus in health administration.
Favorite memory at MU: Bremer said his favorite memory is not a single memory, but is a collection of memories that make him feel like he belongs to MU. One specific example he said was when he and his friends met a former football player on the quad.
“He was telling all these stories and started to draw a crowd,” Bremer said. “Everyone was really enthralled to hear this random alumni’s stories of his experiences of Mizzou. That sense of belonging is my favorite feeling and my favorite memory at Mizzou.”
Favorite food on campus: Chicken bacon ranch pizza at Plaza 900
Career goals: Bremer said he wants to work in the healthcare industry, specifically the business side of healthcare.
