Missouri (13-4, 5-2 SEC) extended its winning streak to three on Friday after defeating University of Arkansas (7-13, 1-7 SEC) in three sets. The Tigers topped the Razorbacks 25-15, 25-19, 25-23 and picked up their fifth sweep of the season. This marks the tenth straight match the Tigers have beaten the Razorbacks in the last six years.
As a team, Missouri had a hitting percentage of .347 on 46 kills, compared to the 28 kills and .157 hitting percentage from Arkansas. The Tigers collected 10 aces with six out of the eight Tigers in the match having at least one; junior Leketor Member-Meneh produced three and junior Tyanna Omazic as well as redshirt sophomore setter Andrea Fuentes each posted two.
Individually, junior Kylie Deberg had 14 kills and has yet to have a match where she has not reached double-digits. She also posted a .397 hitting percentage with nine total digs. Omazic, other than her two aces, contributed a .471 hitting percentage on 10 kills. She also produced two total blocks from the middle-blocker position.
Junior Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana also contributed an ace with nine total digs. She reached a .500 hitting percentage on nine kills in the match.
From the back row, senior Riley Sents led the defense with 14 digs and also posted two assists. Fuentes contributed 38 assists, two kills and three digs to go along with her pair of aces.
“A lot of different players enjoyed success and a lot of credit goes to Andrea for distributing the ball effectively,” coach Joshua Taylor said. “Virtually everyone who played tonight contributed in key situations, whether it was attacking from the service line or passing.”
The Tigers finish up the weekend at home Sunday, Oct. 27 when they take on Mississippi State (12-9, 1-8 SEC) at the Hearnes Center.
