Jaydin Eierman, a 3-time All-American and national finalist at 141 pounds for Missouri, has entered the transfer portal a team spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

The Columbia native and graduate of Father Tolton High School was already not going to be with the team for the 2019-20 season, having taken a redshirt to train and attempt to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. When he returns to collegiate wrestling for his final year of eligibility, he will not be donning black and gold for the Tigers.

Eierman will leave behind an illustrious career at Missouri. In addition to his national honors, he was the best wrestler in the Mid-American Conference throughout his tenure. He took home three MAC championships from 2017-19, earned MAC Freshman of the Year honors in 2017, as well as back-to-back MAC Wrestler of the Year honors in 2018 and 2019.

Eierman was also recognized for his excellence in the classroom by being part of the NWCA All-Academic teams of 2017 and 2018.

Eierman was a massive part of Missouri’s 2018-19 team, which ended the year as the No. 5 team in the country. While he never brought a national championship home to Columbia, he improved on his previous year’s finish in each passing year and may enter the 2020-21 season as the favorite to win the title at 141 pounds with his new team.

While Missouri’s roster is stacked with young talent like sophomores and fellow Tolton graduates Brock Mauller and Jarrett Jacques, who will both be national title contenders in their respective weight classes this and next season, losing a veteran leader and dominant wrestler like Eierman will hurt, especially following a weekend loss to Virginia Tech.
