Missouri men’s basketball (13-14, 5-9 SEC) made the short trek to Fayetteville, Ark. in search of its first SEC road victory of the year on Saturday. Instead, the Tigers drowned in a flood of 3-pointers, losing 78-68.

The Razorbacks (17-10, 5-9 SEC) dominated from beyond the arc, converting 12 of 25 shots from 3-point range. Missouri, on the other hand, shot a frustrating 4 for 21.

Missouri coach Cuonzo Martin gave Arkansas credit “for doing a good job of making us take tough [shots]” in his postgame comments.

The Tigers struggled to contain Razorbacks guard Isaiah Joe, who returned from injury to play almost 38 minutes and score 21 points. Missouri forward Jeremiah Tilmon was available to play but wasn’t used.

Missouri led by 13 points with 10 minutes to go in the first half, but the hosts quickly recovered to have a lead of their own by halftime. The Tigers kept things relatively close, trailing by a single possession with 1:17 to go in the game, but the Razorbacks converted free throws off of intentional fouls while Missouri struggled to score in the final moments.

Freshman forward Kobe Brown’s performance was a bright spot for the Tigers. He posted 17 points – 10 of those coming in the second half alone – and 10 rebounds.

Statistically, not all was bad for Missouri. The Tigers out-rebounded Arkansas 36-23 and gave the Razorbacks only 20 free throws. That lack of foul action was a stark contrast from Missouri’s last couple games, which have seen plenty of whistles. By keeping the Tigers – a strong free-throw shooting team – off the charity stripe, Arkansas found a path to victory.

Missouri stays on the road for its next matchup, facing Vanderbilt on 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
