In an email sent out on March 26 Julia Brncic, chair of the University of Missouri Board of Curators, announced that UM System President Mun Choi will serve as interim chancellor at MU. The Board of Curators unanimously approved the appointment.
Choi will continue to serve as UM System President in addition to his new role.
The email also stated that the Board of Curators will “evaluate the organizational structure” of MU and will not yet begin the search for a new chancellor.
The Florida Board of Governors unanimously approved the appointment of Chancellor Alexander Cartwright as president-elect for the University of Central Florida on March 25. Cartwright will begin his new position on April 13.
The contract approved by the Florida Board of Governors is a five-year contract. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Cartwright’s new contract guarantees him a $600,000 salary, which is 20% more than his current position at MU.
Chancellor Alexander Cartwright will be leaving MU to serve as University of Central Florida President, Choi announced in an email sent out on March 20.
In his email Choi said he will share announcements about MU’s leadership transition plans in the coming weeks.
The UCF Board of Trustees selected Cartwright as the president-elect. This comes after Columbia Daily Tribune announced on Wednesday that Cartwright was named a finalist for the position. Cartwright competed against fellow finalists David Brenner, vice chancellor for health sciences at the University of California – San Diego, and Cato Laurencin, chief executive officer of the Connecticut Convergence Institute for Translation in Regenerative Engineering at the University of Connecticut.
Cartwright served as MU chancellor since August 2017, following the resignation of former chancellor R. Bowen Loften who resigned during the Concerned Student 1950 protests of 2015.
