###Sean Durugordon to enroll early and redshirt###
As first reported by Stockrisers.com, Sean Durugordon announced his intent to graduate high school early, sign early and arrive on campus in January, where he will redshirt for the 2020-21 basketball season. Durugordon verbally committed to Missouri in late August and is viewed as an underrated Southeastern Conference (SEC) prospect with a lot of potential.
This season was supposed to be Durugordon’s one and only season at Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut. However, he will forgo his senior campaign to spend time learning the ropes under Cuonzo Martin before he officially begins his college basketball career in the fall of 2021.
Recruiting beat reporter Mason Arneson reported on Durugordon shortly after he committed. Interested fans can read about him and what he will bring to the SEC courts below in the full length feature by Arneson.
###Katie Chester and Kayley Lenger (Softball, 2022)###
Larissa Anderson’s softball program landed verbal commitments from two talented 2022 infielders — Katie Chester and Kayley Lenger, respectively.
Chester announced her commitment via Twitter last Wednesday before Lenger followed suit on Saturday. The two commits are currently teammates at Liberty North High School, located outside of Kansas City, Mo. They supported eachother’s commitment via Twitter, with Chester mentioning in her tweet just how “impossible” it is to separate the two players. As a sophomore in 2019, Chester was named a First Team Class 4 All-State Infielder.
The two commits will finish out their last regular season at Liberty North on Oct. 8.
###Arlen Harris includes MU in his top six###
The No. 5 running back in Missouri Arlen Harris Jr. announced his top six teams via Twitter on Sept 26. and included Missouri in the awaited list for his 2022 recruitment.
The young running back doubles as a defensive back for Lutheran High School of St. Charles County, located only half an hour from St. Louis, but the other five schools in the list are primarily looking at him for his abilities in the backfield. Those other schools are Penn State, Stanford, Iowa, Michigan and Florida.
Harris hasn’t had the opportunity to visit any of his top teams, which in most cases would imply that each team is on equal footing. However, Sports Illustrated reported that over the summer Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and running back coach Jay Harbaugh have reached out to Harris personally multiple times and have continued to keep a close correspondence with him.
“We communicate in all types of platforms — text, Snapchat, through Twitter,” Harris said to Sports Illustrated. “Coach Harbaugh is a very genuine guy. I remember one of the FaceTimes we had, we didn’t even have to talk football. We were just talking about family and different stuff we like, different hobbies. I was very impressed with Coach Harbaugh.”
Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz has been praised in the media for his performance recruiting in St. Louis, but Harris’s commitment may prove to be his greatest challenge yet because of the Wolverines.
