No. 9 Missouri’s dual against No. 11 Arizona State has been canceled due to “COVID-19 developments within the Sun Devils’ wrestling program,” the program said in a statement on Saturday afternoon.
The announcement comes before Sunday’s scheduled quadrangular between the Tigers, Sun Devils, No. 10 Iowa State and No. 20 Northern Iowa in Ames, Iowa.
“The matches with these opponents are canceled for precautionary reasons in accordance with COVID-19 safety guidelines,” the statement said.
The Sun Devils made the announcement eight days after they defeated No. 19 Oklahoma 20-12.
Arizona State’s Brandon Courtney was expected to face off against Missouri’s Connor Brown in a high-profile matchup in the 125 weight class. The Sun Devils’ Kordell Norfleet was also expected to take on Missouri’s Rocky Elam.
The Tigers are coming off wins against then-No. 21 Central Michigan and Wyoming. Barring any new developments, the matches between No. 9 Missouri, No. 10 Iowa State and No. 20 Northern Iowa will continue as scheduled.
