11,488 – The number of undergraduate students who made it onto the dean’s list during fall 2021. 

$9,484 – The amount of money the world’s most expensive pie sold for. Australian chef Paul Medcalf concocted this pie filled with beef, gold leaf, lobster, truffles and more. 

1,972 – The number of full-time faculty members at MU. 

1,767 – The number of students celebrated at the 2021 winter commencement ceremony. MU handed out more than 1,900 degrees among them. 

193 – The number of cities in the U.S. with an Irish population of 10% or greater. 

100 – The amount of seconds we have left before we reach midnight, according to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. The Bulletin was founded in 1945 by Albert Einstein and a team of scientists at the University of Chicago. Every year, the Bulletin and a group of Nobel laureates set the clock as an “indicator of the world’s vulnerability to nuclear catastrophe.” “Midnight” represents a nuclear weapons-fueled or climate change-fueled apocalypse. Despite the ongoing war in Ukraine stoking fears about nuclear war with Russia, the clock for 2022 remains set at 100 seconds until midnight (though the clock is only set once per year, and this year it was set Jan. 20). 

92.5 – The percentage of faculty members at MU who hold doctorates or a field equivalent. 

70 – The percentage by which cabbage shipments increase in the week leading up to St. Patrick’s Day. Are you a corned beef and cabbage fan?

50 – The amount of green dye, in pounds, the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Union dumps into the Chicago River annually in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.
