An impressive performance by Missouri men’s and women’s swim and dive team at the MU invite, saw both teams facing Missouri State.
The men’s team won 210-86, winning 13 individual events and two relay races.
The team was led by senior Jack Dahlgren, who participated in the freestyle, individual medley and butterfly events. Dahlgren won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:44.96 and the 100 individual medley with a time of 48.22. His split on both events was almost two seconds faster than the second place athlete. Dahlgren also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 43.96.
The women’s team won 201-96, taking first in 10 individual events and two relay races, with seniors Meredith Rees, Macy Rink and freshman Kamryn Wong each winning two.
Rees won the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.96 and the 100 individual medley with a time of 55.55. Both events were sweeps for the Tigers with Rees, Jane Smith and Taylor Williams finishing first, second and third in the 100 freestyle. Rees, Paige Striley and Katrina Brathwaite also placed in the 100 individual medley with Rees finishing first, Striley second and Brathwaite third.
Rink won the 200 and 1000 freestyle with times of 1:48.67 and 10:05.60 respectively. She was 9.7 seconds faster in the 1000 freestyle than second place Missouri State’s Vera Margula.
Wong won the one meter event, scoring 282.30 and the three meter event with a score of 310.35, allowing Missouri to sweep both events.
Both the men’s and women’s team will be back at home Jan. 6, where they will fight to stay undefeated against Louisville.
