Dr. Angela King Taylor and Michelle Froese fill interim vice chancellor for students, dean of students positions respectively
Following Bill Stackman’s transfer to Harvard at the end of the Spring 2023 semester, MU appointed Dr. Angela King Taylor as interim vice chancellor for student affairs. King Taylor assumed her new duties on June 1, 2023 and appointed Michelle Froese as interim dean of students on July 14, 2023.
King Taylor and Froese said they will fulfill these positions until the university finds permanent replacements.
King Taylor used to serve as MU’s associate dean of students, and said she spends more time with student organizations and leaders since becoming interim dean. King Taylor emphasized her focus on students having a sense of belonging.
“[I’m] making sure they’re connected, they’re engaged, they’re involved,” King Taylor said. “We’ve got lots of heads at the table thinking about how we move things forward and really create this positive environment for our students.”

Froese’s role as interim dean includes a focus on student engagement and leadership, in addition to her existing responsibilities to Mizzou Families, the Care Team, and the Office of Student Accountability and Support.
“I had a lot of joy helping students, but often I would talk to families or students who might be having some challenges, and we wanted to get them back on track,” Froese said.
Froese’s new position gives her additional opportunities to connect with students in the Center for Student Involvement and attend a wider range of events.
“We’re not waiting, we’re just moving,” Froese said. “And then when it’s time [to leave the interim positions], we will continue to serve the university in other ways.”
