MU’s homecoming celebrations begin this week, finishing off with the homecoming game this Saturday.
This year marks The University of Missouri’s 112th homecoming, themed “First and Finest.” Here is a guide to the week’s homecoming events.
Light the Dome – Oct. 14
The week’s homecoming celebrations will kick off on Sunday, Oct. 15 with Light the Dome, where Jesse Hall will be lit in gold and students will get the chance to meet this year’s homecoming royalty. The event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will also include food and an outdoor concert in Traditions Plaza.
Homecoming Talent Competition – Oct. 16
Starting Monday, Oct. 16 students from across campus will compete in the Homecoming Talent competition. The talent competition will run for three nights ending on Wednesday, Oct. 18 and feature skits, songs and dance performances. Each night of performances will take place in Jesse Auditorium from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m.
Campus Decorations – Oct. 20
On Friday, Oct. 20 students, family and friends can head to Greek Town (between Rollins St. and Kentucky Blvd.) for the annual tradition of Campus Decorations. Participating greek houses will feature interactive displays, skits and other activities for students and community members with this year’s theme of “children’s books.” Food trucks will also be open in Greek Town throughout the event which runs from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Check here closer to the event for a map of participating greek houses and organizations.
NPHC Step Show – Oct. 20
MU’s National Pan-Hellenic Council will host their annual Homecoming Step Show on Friday, Oct. 20 at 6:00 p.m. Fraternities and sororities will perform a series of skits, dances and songs. Get tickets here.
Homecoming Spirit Rally – Oct. 20
The homecoming spirit rally will take place on Friday, Oct. 20 at 8:00 p.m. in Traditions Plaza. The rally will feature performances by Marching Mizzou and MU’s Golden Girls. Those who cannot attend in-person can fill out this RSVP form to watch the livestream.
Football Game – Oct. 21
Missouri will play the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m. on Faurot Field. Homecoming royalty will be announced at halftime. Students, parents and community members can buy tickets here.
