The Tigers add a forward-heaving class during signing day.
As Nov. 8 came and went, so did national signing day. The Missouri soccer team did their part, adding five new members to the roster: Landis Canada, Callaway Combs, Emily Derucki, Mia Devrouax and McKenna Moran.
Canada is a 5-foot-9 forward from Fenton, Michigan. As a member of the Michigan Hawks in the Elite Clubs National League, Canada was a three-time First Team ECNL member. She was a three-sport athlete at Fenton Senior High School, competing in both cross country and track and field, alongside soccer.
While primarily a forward, Canada has the versatility to fit into the Tiger’s midfield.
“We know that she is going to come in and compete and believe that she can grow into an elite player at this level,” head coach Stefanie Golan said.
Canada joins sophomore defender Scarlett Thomas as the only players on the Tigers from Michigan.
Combs is a 5-foot-6 defender from Eureka, Missouri. Also competing in the ECNL, she won back-to-back National Championships in 2022 and 2023 with St. Louis Scott Gallagher. As a member of Eureka High School, Combs earned three All-Conference selections.
“She is going to add depth to our back line as someone who could play centrally or out wide,” Golan said.
Derucki is a 5-foot-9 forward from Wildwood, Missouri. She was a teammate of Combs at St. Louis Scott Gallagher, which also included four undefeated ECNL Midwest Conference Championships in five years. She helped lead Lafayette High School to third place in the state tournament, while earning an All-Midwest selection from the United Soccer Coaches with 44 goals and 39 assists.
“She can get behind back lines and is one of the grittiest players in the attacking box that we have recruited,” Golan said.
Devrouax is a 5-foot-1 forward from Florissant, Missouri. She is the third and final member of the St. Louis Scott Gallagher roster to join the Tigers’ recruiting class. Devrouax won the Missouri High School Player of the Year in 2022 after scoring a hat trick to win the state final at Whitfield High School. She already holds the scoring record at Whitfield with at least 100 goals heading into her senior season.
“She is feisty on both sides of the ball, attacks well from wide spaces to both create and score opportunities,” Golan said.
Recruiting in-state continues to be a point of emphasis for Missouri, after having seven players from the Show-Me State this year.
Moran is a 5-foot-6 midfielder from Rowlett, Texas. As a member of the D’feeters Kicks Soccer Club, she made the 2022 ECNL Second Team All-Conference. At Sachse High School, Moran qualified for First Team All-District.
“She is technically excellent, adds some dynamic elements to the attacking side of the game, and is overall a really intelligent player,” Golan said.
Missouri hopes that these five recruits can help lead them to an SEC and a possible NCAA tournament bid next season.
