“I’ll wait outside stadiums for hours just to get front-row seats because I love my school … I try to show up to every game … For me, it was when I was in fourth grade I wanted to come to Mizzou, so the fact that I’m here now and I’m halfway through with it, I’m trying to make every second count.” (Photo by Cal Tobias) “I read this biography about a Spanish Queen back in the 1500s or 1600s. I had never really thought about women’s place in Spanish royalty and how the whole monarchical system works. The particular figure, Mariana of Austria, she’s sort of written off in other history books as like, ‘She didn’t know what she was doing. She was a really bad leader. She wasn’t prepared.’ But this book was like ‘actually she was and I will tell you why.’” (Photo by Elia Mast) [Content Warning: The quote below includes mention of suicide.] “In eighth grade, I was definitely going to kill myself. But my math teacher pulled me out of class one day and she was like, ‘Are you okay?’ Obviously, I said ‘yes,’ but she believed in me, and that was nice. So I tried a little harder because I knew someone believed in me.” (Photo by Matthew Jacobi) “I was born three months prematurely. So I had a lot of developmental things that physical therapy helped. I had a weakness on the right side of my body. Up until I was five I did [physical therapy]. I don’t really remember anything, just from pictures. Being in physical therapy previously gives me that perspective for other people if they have similar conditions that I’m treating.” (Photo by Elia Mast) [Content Warning: The quote below includes mention of domestic violence.] “I convinced my ex to break up with me, and that sounds kind of weird. I was in more of an emotional but a [domestic violence] relationship and I didn’t want to leave because I felt terrible, so I somehow convinced him that he wanted to break up with me because he needed to. It was like a sense of relief, but it was like a three year relationship, so it was kind of terrifying and scary to be alone. Especially because it was in the summer this year and I was here at Mizzou taking summer classes, so I was kind of alone. I didn’t tell my parents for about two weeks. I didn’t tell my roommate because she knew about it. There was one person there for me, but they didn’t really know the whole story of things that happened. So it was really just a time where I was relieved and terrified of being on my own.” (Photo by Kolden Lam) “You know, I think sometimes I wish I had bigger and better things, but kind of being there with the people in Belize … with them just being so grateful and happy with what they have, it just makes me appreciate everything that I have so much more. I think that was kind of the biggest eye-opening moment for me in my life.” (Photo by Sam Cox) “Yes, I have been in love. Well, she turned out to be an asshole but she was French and that was cool. She spoke English but not very well. So it was endearing. And I would go over to her house every day and then we’d bake or study or do something like that and it was just really chill. I think we met at the library of my old school.” (Photo by Emma Rae Gerwen) “Something interesting about me is that I actually went to college in San Francisco last year and I actually moved back here to be closer to home.” (Photo by Sam Cox)“I like that [Mizzou] is a big campus, I can walk around and meet plenty of people. It’s a new experience from where I was. I like the change.” (Photo by Logan Morris)“Marching Mizzou has felt so welcomed and supported on this trip to the Cotton Bowl. You can really feel the fan’s energy and admiration for us, and it truly adds to the experience. We’re so glad to see them love our music and this organization as much as we do. Our long hours at practice to perfect seven halftime shows is what made my third season one to remember.” (Photo by Kolden Lam)
