The Tigers won 19 events on the first day and followed up with another 15 on the second
Missouri swimming and diving finished their regular season by hosting the Tiger Qualifier, facing off against Truman State and the University of Kansas. The Tigers hosted the event on Feb. 2 and Feb. 3, delivering many impressive performances.
The first day saw 19 event wins for the Tigers. The men had six swimmers and two relay teams win events, while the ladies had seven swimmers and one relay secure victories. Freshman Zara Zallen, Logan Ottke and junior Grant Bochenski won two events each, along with Zallen and Ottke being a part of the two relay teams that won the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Senior Daniel Wilson and freshman Darden Tate were also part of winning relay teams and both took home wins of their own. Wilson was on the 200-yard freestyle relay team and won the 100-yard butterfly, while Tate was a part of the 200-yard medley relay and was victorious in the solo 200-yard freestyle event.
The next day was senior day, which was celebrated prior to the start of the event. The team’s seniors were honored, including Holley Dennis, Will Goodwin, Mikolaj Malec, Frederik Rindshøj, Jane Smith, Sierra Smith, Daniel Wilson, and Kayla Wilson.
The Tigers combined for 15 wins on the second day. Sophomore Collier Dyer and freshman Tommaso Zannela both won their individual events. Sophomore Kamryn Wong doubled up, winning both the three-meter and one-meter dive. On the swimming side, nine different swimmers won an event, including a win for both the men and women in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Bochenski gained a third solo win in the 200-yard backstroke and sophomore Jan Zubik got his second in the 200-yard butterfly.
The Tiger Qualifier concluded Missouri’s regular season. They now look ahead to the SEC Championships, which start on Feb. 20 and go through Feb. 24.
