The Tigers only sent four golfers to their fourth tournament of the season, two of which finished in the top 20
In its fourth tournament of the season, Missouri men’s golf saw two of its four athletes finish in the top 20 at the Turtle Point Invite. Hosted by North Alabama, the Tigers sent only four individuals to the tournament, all of which were either freshmen or sophomores.
The leader of the bunch was sophomore Brock Snyder, who finished No. 12 overall with a 3-under-par score. His best score came in the second round, posting a 3-under-par 69, raising Snyder up the leaderboard to the sixth place spot. His 3-under final score was a career-best.
Freshman Trent Mierl was the next top finisher after Snyder, placing six spots behind in a tie for No. 18 overall. Mierl closed the tournament with his best score of 2-under 70 in the final round.
Further down the leaderboard was fellow freshman Jakob Hansen. He finished with an overall score of 6-over-par, sitting at No. 35 on the leaderboard by the end of the tournament. He struggled on the final day, posting a 4-over-par.
The last of the Tigers’ finishers was Bubba Chapman, finishing No. 47 overall with a score of 9-over-par. After the first round, Chapman was even with Snyder at 1-under-par. A pair of outings combined at +10 in the following rounds plummeted him down the leaderboard and took him out of contention.
Since Missouri only sent four golfers, they did not record a team score. The winning overall team was North Alabama, with a score of 25-under-par. North Alabama sophomore Andrew Ferworn won the individual competition, leading the way with a five-shot gap and a 13-under-par score overall.
The Tigers compete next from Oct. 20-22 at The Williams Cup in Wilmington, N.C.
