The Tiger’s earned their largest margin of victory on the season
Missouri women’s basketball took down Western Illinois on the road 75-55 for its third win of the season.
Missouri took an early 9-2 lead in the first quarter with Grace Slaughter dropping a 3-pointer and a layup for five early points.
Ashton Judd and Abbey Schreacke made back-to-back 3-pointers, extending the lead to 15-7. Missouri would continue to lead a strong full-court defense, but this led to more fouls as Laniah Randle left with a pair in the first quarter.
Western Illinois snagged its first lead 15-17, ending the first quarter ahead of Missouri.
Missouri struggled to score early in the second quarter but soon found their stripes as Schreacke and Slaughter made back-to-back 3-pointers, tying the game 21-21.
Schreacke scored 11 more points in the quarter, giving the Tigers a 12-point lead. Western Illinois caught up through free throws, and the second quarter ended 33-27.
Nyah Wilson started the third quarter hot with her first 3-pointer of the night with two free throws, giving the Tigers a ten-point lead.
Western Illinois started to catch up, but Missouri held a double-digit lead with baskets from Randle and more 3-pointers from Schreacke, leading after three quarters 56-44.
Schreacke started the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer, and a basket from Wilson gave Missouri its largest lead of the night at 17.
The Tigers cruised the rest of the way as Hilke Feldrappe and De’Myla Brown scored their first points of the 2024-25 season, putting the bow on a 75-55 win.
Schreacke was the hot hand tonight, scoring 26 points on eight made 3-pointers with three rebounds in 26 minutes of playing time. Randle played only 16 minutes but added nine rebounds and 11 points.
The Tigers will now face Saint Louis at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Mizzou Arena.
