The Tigers scored 46 points in the final 20 minutes to secure the win over Georgia
No. 21 Missouri men’s basketball hit the road on Feb. 15 to take on the Georgia Bulldogs. The Tigers trailed by three by the end of the first half and ended up on top after an 18-2 run in the second half. From there, Missouri maintained the momentum, winning 87-74.
Anthony Robinson II’s performance was highlighted by an impressive steal and fastbreak dunk at 12:13 in the second half. Robinson also scored 15 points, joining Caleb Grill to lead Missouri in scoring.
The Tigers controlled possession of the ball for the majority of the second half, with Georgia having one long 10-5 run to end the game.
Missouri finished the half trailing by three to Georgia. Forward Asa Newell’s three-point-play and guard Blue Cain’s last-second jumper gave the Bulldogs a lead into the second half.
Tamar Bates led the Missouri offense in the first half, scoring nine points. Bates finished the game with 13 points in total and three three-pointers, leading the Tigers in three-point shooting. Missouri knocked down nine threes total in the game.
Missouri scored 19 fastbreak points while holding the Bulldogs to zero. This is the third straight game where the Tigers scored double-digit fastbreak points, seeing them score 10 versus Oklahoma and 19 at Tennessee. Missouri had nine steals, creating plenty of opportunities for fast break scoring compared to Georgia’s one steal.
The Tigers played again on Feb. 19, taking on No. 4 Alabama. Missouri secured the upset, winning 110-98.
