Head coach Kerrick Jackson and the Missouri Tigers remain winless in SEC play after dropping all three games in Fayetteville, Arkansas to the No. 2 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks. Missouri was severely outmatched throughout this series being run-ruled in all three games — which lasted just seven innings.
Game 1
In the series opener, Missouri went down 2-0 early but tied the game in the top of the third thanks to junior infielder Keegan Knutson’s RBI double to left field and an RBI groundout by sophomore center fielder Kaden Peer.
In the bottom third, Arkansas recaptured its two-run lead with a home run from senior outfielder Logan Maxwell and a double from sophomore catcher Ryder Helfrick. Missouri was then outscored 17-1 over the next three innings, resulting in a 21-3 loss, its biggest loss this season.
Game 2
In the second game of Sunday’s doubleheader, Missouri jumped out in front of the Razorbacks with junior designated hitter Cameron Benson’s RBI single to left field and an RBI single to right field by senior outfielder Cayden Nicoletto, giving Missouri a 2-0 lead.
Falling down 4-2 going into the third inning after a sacrifice fly and a 3 run homer by the Razorbacks, the Tigers knotted it up again thanks to a throwing error by Arkansas and a sacrifice bunt by sophomore catcher Mateo Serna.
The Tigers’ offensive run came to an end as the Razorbacks scored two more in the bottom of the third and seven more in the fourth and capped the night off with one more run in the sixth, giving Arkansas a 14-4 win.
Game 3
The series finale began with another strong start by Missouri, opening with Knutson scoring on a passed ball. Arkansas scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and followed it up with a pair of runs in the second.
Missouri got a run back in the third thanks to an RBI single by Peer, which scored Knutson.
