Participating MU College of Engineering seniors were honored for their work at an annual knighting ceremony. The event pays homage to St. Patrick and the people who have contributed to the engineering world. The Engineers’ Week celebration recognizes the achievement of MU engineering students approaching graduation. During the week, participating students are knighted by a person acting as St. Patrick.
Jacob Hudson, MU senior and candidate for E-Week king, and fellow king candidates hold the customary shillelaghs they made for the ceremony on Friday, March 14, at Lafferre Hall in Columbia, Missouri. “All the king candidates, we go and we dig up ash trees and we make shillelaghs,” Tyler Quinlan, MU senior and king candidate, said. “They’re used to protect St. Patrick when he comes to campus, and we have to carry them around all week to all our classes.”
