Missouri football’s foundation for the future is taking shape. Through “Building the Den,” Maneater Sports reporter Mike Livingston profiles the recruits constructing the Tigers’ 2026 class, a group built on talent, identity and the promise of what’s to come.
Missouri added size to its 2026 wide receiver class in June with Edwardsville, Illinois, native Devyon Hill-Lomax.
Hill-Lomax, a three-star recruit out of Edwardsville High School, is Missouri’s second receiver commit, joining Jabari Brady, who committed June 7. Hill-Lomax is ranked the No. 125 receiver in the nation and the No. 22 player in Illinois.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound receiver committed to Missouri June 25 after a visit to Columbia five days earlier. His commitment marked the end of a recruiting journey that began with an offer from Kentucky in the spring of his sophomore year. Missouri officially extended an offer to Hill-Lomax on Oct. 19, 2024.
Hill-Lomax entertained offers from numerous schools, but he only visited Purdue and Cincinnati before his final visit to Missouri.
Hill-Lomax uses his height as a prime advantage, turning 50-50 balls into 75-25 balls when he goes downfield in tight coverage. His separation skills stand out, and with a quarterback who boasts a strong arm, Hill-Lomax could see lots of action in the future.
His speed also translates to open fields, as Edwardsville often lined Hill-Lomax up in screen packages to let him create space on his own.
Hill-Lomax comes to Missouri as the Tigers’ tallest wideout since Keke Chism in 2021. Chism, who stood 6-foot-5, recorded 969 total yards and four touchdowns during his two seasons with the Tigers.’
In 2025, Hill-Lomax was named to the Class 7A all-state team by the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association, making him one of two players south of Chicago to earn the recognition on the 18-member team. He earned that spot after accumulating 672 yards and eight touchdowns in his senior season, averaging 17.7 yards per reception.
Hill-Lomax also contributed out of the backfield, recording 26 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
With Kevin Coleman Jr. graduating and the ever-present shadow of the transfer portal looming, recruits like Hill-Lomax will likely get opportunities for playing time upon arriving in Columbia.
