Missouri wrestling gained some talent midway through its 2025-26 season as Columbia native Teague Travis announced his transfer to Mizzou for the second semester of his final year of NCAA eligibility.
The redshirt senior comes to Mizzou from perennial contender Oklahoma State, where he spent the last four years of his career competing in the 149 and, more recently, 157 weight classes. Travis accumulated a 41-14 record and was a two-time NCAA qualifier with a 4-4 record in the national tournament while placing fourth at the Big 12 Championships in both of his last two seasons.
The former three-time Missouri state champion started his high school career at Fr. Tolton Catholic High School before moving to Stillwater High School in Stillwater, Oklahoma. During his senior season, he claimed his fourth consecutive state title and his first in Oklahoma.
Travis competed in the 157-pound class for most of last season before suffering an injury that kept him sidelined until the Big 12 Championships, where he returned in the 149-pound class.
It remains to be seen where Travis will fit into the Tigers’ lineup since he has yet to compete this season.
However, a slot into the group at 157 would come much easier than the 149 crop, considering one of the Tigers’ best, Josh Edmond, has had the 149 locked down this season. The 157 group, while competitive, with names like J Conway, David Gleason and Joel Mylin, could use a bona fide, proven wrestler like Travis.
The Tigers’ next match begins Dec. 5 at the Hustle in the Heartland tournament with matchups against Long Island University and Nebraska in St. Charles, Missouri.
