The University of Missouri Campus Dining Services team is working toward changes to dining plans and the Restaurants at Southwest beginning in Fall 2026.
An updated dining plan that includes more dining dollars is being discussed. Campus Dining Services said these changes allow more flexibility with dining options and hours.
First-year student Jordyn Campbell said she thinks the change towards more dining dollars will be a welcome one.
“I feel like more dining dollars is nice,” Campbell said. “I feel like it’s hard to get through the taps sometimes, like, you have to force yourself to, like, come, but that’s also dependent on the person.”
Since August 2023, Southwest has been an all-you-care-to-eat location where one tap provides students access to all stations. Currently, these stations include the Legacy Grill, 1839 Kitchen with rotating options, the Casa Truman burrito bowl station and the Olive & Oil pasta bar.
With these changes, Southwest would return to an à la carte location. The pay-per-station service will include menu updates and new station offerings, such as Olive & Oil returning to a made-to-order site.
According to Mizzou spokesperson Travis Zimpfer, these projected changes are largely based on public input and evaluations of customer patterns. CDS also considered input from the team at Southwest.
“Students also shared at a recent Dining Advisory Board meeting that they missed this style of service,” Zimpfer said in an email.
CDS is continuing to discuss these changes and has not finalized the plan.
