**1. Police make marijuana arrest near Hatch Hall**
MU Police Department officers arrested two 18-year-olds on drug charges Monday night near Hatch Hall.
“An officer on foot patrol saw two subjects between Hatch and the Agricultural Engineering Building passing a pipe between each other,” MUPD Capt. Scott Richardson said. “When the officer approached, he smelled marijuana.”
Freshman Christopher Wheeler, 18, was arrested just before midnight on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana. Caleb Dike, 18, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana.
**2. Altercation in Schurz Hall leads to arrest**
Two freshmen were arrested Monday night in Schurz Hall after an altercation on the eighth floor.
“Two subjects were being loud in their room when someone knocked on the door,” MU Police Department Capt. Scott Richardson said. “Then they got in a pushing match, and we were called.”
Freshmen Michael O. Moore, 19, and Matthew Fehr, 18, were arrested at 11 p.m. Monday on suspicion of peace disturbance.
**3. Teen arrested on charges of cutting corners and drug paraphernalia possession**
An officer was at a parking lot at 12:06 p.m. Tuesday at 101 Business Loop 70 East when he observed a yellow scooter crossing the parking lot. According to Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer, the scooter driver was trying to avoid a traffic light at Range Line Street.
The officer stopped Joseph Christmas, 17, who gave the officer permission to search him. The officer found an air hose fitting with marijuana residue on it in Christmas’s left front pocket and arrested him. Christmas was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and corner cutting to avoid traffic control devices.
**4. Police arrest three on Nifong Boulevard**
An officer observed a car without working license plate lamps traveling east on Wednesday morning at Nifong Boulevard and stopped the driver, who was unaware that the lamps were not working, according to a police report.
The driver, Cody Parson, had no license and one of the passengers, Brayden Landreth, had a warrant out for his arrest. The vehicle’s owner, Courtney Evans, gave the officer permission to search the vehicle. He found a small amount of marijuana, marijuana seeds and a marijuana pipe. Evans was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, Parson was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle without a license and Landreth was arrested on warrant for failure to appear in court on charges of marijuana possession.
**5. Man arrested on charges of stealing from Walmart**
Scottie Willet, 24, was arrested Tuesday on charges of stealing from a Walmart. Loss Prevention at Walmart witnessed Willet select several items from the store and attempt to walk out with them, according to a Columbia Police Department report. He was arrested at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday at the Walmart located at 1201 Grindstone Parkway on charges of stealing. It was his third offense.
