One person was injured and no arrests have been made in Saturday morning’s downtown shooting, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.
The release stated officers were sent to Boone Tavern Restaurant just before 1 a.m., and a large disturbance had begun inside the lobby of the restaurant and moved outside. Between 20 and 25 shots were fired, injuring one 19-year-old victim and damaging several cars and buildings on Ninth Street between Walnut and Ash streets.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the release, officers received little cooperation from witnesses and the victim. Without statements from others involved, CPD was unable to establish probable cause and make any arrests in the case.
CPD investigators think the shooting could be connected to other recent incidents in the city, and anyone with information is urged to call CPD or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 573-875-TIPS.
