Members of the Interfraternity Council elected next year’s executive board Sunday.

Seven positions were looking to be filled. According to a press release, the candidates were given four minutes to state their cases for election, focusing on their accomplishments within their chapters, on campus and why they were most qualified for the position.

Current IFC president Patrick Wolff said the executive board has a number of responsibilities both philanthropic and recruitment-based.

“The executive board is responsible for putting on multiple programs of the Interfraternity Council including IFCares, formal recruitment and new member development,” Wolff said. “The board is comprised of established leaders who can work as a collaborative group to best serve our 28 fraternity chapters.”

The voting delegation, comprised of the Presidents Council and one delegate from each the 28 chapters, elected Jackson Hobbs of Sigma Chi fraternity as the president elect of IFC. He and the other newly elected members of the executive board will assume their roles in January 2013. Transition meetings, which will introduce the members to their new roles, will take place in the near future, current IFC spokesman Jonathan Strope said.

President-elect Hobbs said he is prepared to serve the campus and the community.

“I am most looking forward to building foundations of cooperation and support
between the IFC and the greater campus and community at large through MSA, community service, philanthropy and organizations at Mizzou and around Columbia,” Hobbs said.
