Tim Tinnin, an area trooper and zone commander for the Missouri Department of Highway Patrol’s Troop F, is organizing the first annual Angiepalooza in honor of his late wife, Angela Christina Tinnin. The event will take place June 15 at the Jaycee Cole County Fairgrounds.

Angela Tinnin was diagnosed with cancer and died Dec. 11, 2012, at the age of 39. According to her (obituary)[http://www.millardfamilychapels.com/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=1870245&fh_id=10506], Angela Tinnin joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 2003 where she worked in telecommunications, radio operating and as an instructor of Criminal Justice Information Services at the Patrol’s academy. She was the first female member of the Missouri Highway Patrol’s SWAT team.

The Columbia Police Officers Association and Target Masters posted a news release about the event on their Facebook pages. According to the news release, there will be food, drink and multiple bands at the event.

“Over the past few years, Angie and I had a passion for organizing benefit barbecues with our team of friends at Troop F, raising nearly $100,000 for various causes,” Tinnin said in a Facebook post. “This will be a natural extension of those events and something she would have loved.”

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Mid-Missouri Safety Net, a group created in June 2012 to aid the families of fallen police officers, firefighters, ambulance personnel and corrections officers of the area. According to the [Safety Net website](http://www.safetynetmo.org/Home_Page.html), Safety Net provides the families with support and financial assistance, but deaths from natural causes, illnesses or injuries are outside the organization’s scope.

Safety Net released a [news release](http://www.safetynetmo.org/News.html) that stated the family of fallen law enforcement members will receive a $5,000 check from the Safety Net within hours of the death. Additional support, such as assumption of financial obligations, health insurance, educational tuition for children and other assistance will be provided as funding permits.

“Safety Net’s goal is to encompass all of the Troop F area in the near future, including the good folks of CPD,” Tinnin said in a Facebook comment. “We need your support to make this successful and allow Safety Net to grow.”
