**1. Tigers get suplexed by Alabama**

Oct. 13, 2012 — With Missouri football team down 42-10 with two minutes left in the fourth quarter against the eventual national champions, Alabama defensive lineman LaMichael Fanning delivered a textbook German suplex to sophomore running back Russell Hansbrough, planting Hansbrough on the back of his neck. The slam embodied just how badly the other teams in the Southeastern Conference dominated Missouri. The Tigers finished the season with a 2-6 conference record, losing by an average of 15 points per game.

**2. Baseball destroyed by Vandy**

April 14, 2013 — With Missouri baseball having only four conference wins halfway through the season, the Tigers’ road series against No. 3 Vanderbilt couldn’t have come at a worse time. On April 13, the Commodores beat the Tigers by the biggest margin of the season, 12-1. But Vanderbilt was able to top themselves a day later, winning 16-4 and marking the most runs the Tigers’ defense gave up since a 22-7 loss to Charlotte in 2011.

**3. Six-time choke fest**

Missouri men’s basketball had a disappointing season with a 23-11 record, but the most frustrating part was how many games came down to the last minute. On six different occasions, the Tigers lost to a conference opponent because of a missed final possession shot. The loss that stung the most happened on the road against Kentucky when a blocked layup from junior guard Phil Pressey sent the game into overtime, resulting in a 90-83 loss.

**4. Soccer trips at the finish line**

Missouri soccer got off to its hottest start in program history before slumping midseason. In the SEC tournament, the Tigers defeated a good Kentucky team but fell to the Gators in the semifinals, 3-0, without head coach Bryan Blitz who was ejected from the previous game. The women’s soccer team couldn’t regain its momentum and then fell to Illinois in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

** 5. Women’s basketball hit a downward spiral**

On Feb. 3, the Missouri women’s basketball team upset No. 9/10 Tennessee 80-63, marking the first time in three years the Tigers had beaten a top 10 team. But the highlight of the season was quickly followed by a five-game losing streak. The streak killed any momentum gained by the Tennessee loss, and the Tigers were knocked out of the first round in both the SEC and National Invitational Tournament.
