####Inebriated man shows officer false identification, arrested
Police arrested Cody Jacobs, 19, outside of Lee Hills Hall on Wednesday.
Police were dispatched to parking lot RC-1 following a report of an intoxicated individual attempting to enter the Columbia Missourian building. Police found Jacobs sitting on a bench outside of the building using his cell phone, according to MU Police Department reports.
When approaching Jacobs, MU police asked, “What are you doing?” but Jacobs did not respond. The officer repeated the question a second time, and Jacobs looked up from his cell phone and smiled at the officer. Jacobs smelled strongly of alcohol, according to MUPD reports.
After obtaining the Jacobs’ identification, it became apparent that the name and photograph on the driver’s license did not match the name Jacob gave police or his appearance.
Jacobs was arrested on charges of possessing false identification and being visibly intoxicated as a minor. Jacobs was released on summons.
