After 15 years as the director of the Multicultural Center, Pablo Mendoza is leaving MU, effective July 12.
Mendoza accepted a position at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, assisting the president of the university in his diversity initiatives.
Student Life Assistant Director Donell Young will be interviewing for Mendoza’s position.
Menoza is also the campus director of the Associated Students of the University of Missouri, a member of the Administrative Leadership Development Program, the liaison between Student Affairs and the Association of Campus Religious Advisors and a member of the Chancellor’s Diversity Initiative Equity Council.
Mendoza said that after finishing his doctoral dissertation in July 2012, he wanted a new career challenge.
“I’ve accomplished as much as I can accomplish at Mizzou,” Mendoza said.
At IUP, Mendoza will be assisting with diversity in the spheres of academic affairs, student affairs and human resources. He said he will be helping student affairs with developing a women’s center, a LGBT center and a multicultural center. Currently, the university only has a black culture center.
