It won’t be long before the scorching summer sun makes its last appearance of the year.

And if you’re like me — a dreadfully pale adolescent who happened to spend all weekend at LouFest neglecting sunscreen and working on a raccoon tan — your skin is counting down the days.

It’s not as though I’ll be unable to tomato-ify myself without the help of thousands (millions?) of my favorite ultraviolet friends, it’s just that there’s something about the fall season that makes me as excited as a young child on Christmas morning.

But why fall? I guess there’s something about the crunching of discolored leaves on the cement pathways, or the ability to perpetually pull off wearing ugly sweaters in the name of trendiness and fashion. Maybe it’s the excuse to buy 14 pumpkin spice lattes a week without guilt, or the prospect of nerding out in class for three more beautiful, torturous months — whatever. Regardless of exactly what it is, the anticipation, and my general lack of aloe vera, is killing me.

Coming up within the next few months are some fantastic movies to keep an eye out for, and no matter whether you’re old, young, cool, lame, human or not, there ought to be something for you. I suppose you could say I’m pretty excited about that as well.

**“Don Jon”** _Sept. 27_
Have you ever been addicted to pornography? No? What? That’s cool, I guess, because Joseph Gordon-Levitt (both directing and starring in a feature film for the first time) has you covered. We’ve seen the “men who objectify women and eventually learn that they should be treated better” scenario many times before, but “Don Jon” looks to be full of promise. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival with positive reviews, and, as we all know, Gordon-Levitt is a fan favorite. Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore also star.

**“Gravity”** _Oct. 4_
Alfonso Cuarón’s new film is going to be out of this world! OK, OK. Enough. But seriously guys, it looks super interesting. Two of Hollywood’s leading actors, George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, headline the celestial caper of the year. I feel lost when I have an awkward amount of time in between two classes, but the premise of getting trapped in space without a shuttle seems pretty bad too. In all honesty, the film looks to be filled to the brim with originality and drama, and it’s bound to get some Oscar nominations.

**“The Fifth Estate”** _Oct. 18_
As a journalism major, I’m very interested in anything WikiLeaks related, and you should be too. It’s a neat ethical dilemma to consider. “The Fifth Estate” will highlight all of the drama of the news-leaking website, and Benedict Cucumber’s talents should be put to the test. Wait, it’s Cumberbatch? That can’t be right.

**“Ender’s Game”** _Nov. 1_
They’re making it into a movie! Despite how you may feel about that, Orson Scott Card’s science fiction novel has been popular among all crowds for decades, and film adaptations of books are always notable, if not controversial. Three talented young actors, Asa Butterfield (playing Ender Wiggin), Hailee Steinfeld (from 2010’s “True Grit”) and Abigail Breslin (“Little Miss Sunshine”) join experienced actors Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley in a terrific cast. “Ender’s Game” looks to be one of fall’s biggest blockbusters.

**“The Wolf of Wall Street”** _Nov. 15_
Another Scorsese-DiCaprio collaboration? If you say so movie industry. A comedic biographical account of Jordan Belfort (DiCaprio), a corrupt New York stockbroker who messes up Wall Street in the 1990s, “The Wolf of Wall Street” will be one of the best films available for the adult crowd. Or for anyone seeking serious culture points.

Of course, there are other movies that didn’t make my pretentious list, such as Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor” and Ron Howard’s “Rush,” that will undoubtedly be worth the price of a ticket. It’s a matter of taste.

I’m sure you’re all dying to get to your nearest cinema. But while you’re waiting, be sure to stay inside. Fresh air is overrated.
