“Happy Love Your Body Day!” people shouted to bystanders at Lowry Mall on Wednesday.
Love Your Body Day is an annual tradition that provides information about body positivity.
“We want to let everyone know that they are beautiful and wonderful as they are. We have this every year,” senior Jodie Sabino said. “It’s just a day of celebrating each other and validating that we’re all wonderful. “
The day was hosted by the Love Your Body Committee, which is a campus-wide committee that provides programming and information about body positive, [according to its website](http://mizzoulife.missouri.edu/love-your-body/).
The committee staffed two tables at Lowry Mall. At one of the tables, students could pick up brochures and learn about the event. At the other, students could make motivational buttons.
Sabino was in charge of button making.
“It’s just all with body-positive messages, so it’s kind of like your own keepsake and reminder to be positive about yourself everyday,” Sabino said.
The buttons were made using crayon with phrases such as “I’m sexy, and I know it.” Then participants pressed the buttons, which were complete in less than 20 seconds.
“I think it’s really awesome that they’re paying attention to (body image) because it’s something that is overlooked,” freshman Frankie Russick said. “A lot and people — we — have things thrown at us all the time, and so many people have such a negative body image, so it’s important that people go out and do things like this.”
