Many years ago, I walked with friends from Mark Twain Residence Hall to Faurot Field for football games. We might not have won the Big 8 crown, but we certainly were proud of those damned exciting Tigers.
I’ve gotten excited about Mizzou again. I can still fit into my many Mizzou shirts from long ago. But I’ve ordered new ones; ones I hope to wear when I go to Atlanta to cheer once again for my alma mater.
Try not to get cocky. Remember that the country doesn’t see this great university going anywhere near Atlanta in December. Stay focused and grounded. Cheer loudly and often.
As for the team, stay healthy, guys. Always know that you represent more than yourselves. You represent me and all other alums, too.
Coaches: be methodical and wise. Focus on the remaining schedule before making reservations in Atlanta. If you run the table this year, maybe we alums will petition for a bunch of raises.
As for the Women’s Volleyball Team: You go, girls! We’re proud of you, too!
With a cheer for ol’ Mizzou,
