At about 10 a.m. March 10, MUPD received a report of a man’s body in Hinkson Creek, east of Providence Road.
Upon investigation, fire and medical personnel determined that the man was dead.
An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the time and cause of death, MUPD spokesperson Brian Weimer said. No evidence indicates foul play at this time.
UPDATE: MUPD has identified the deceased but is not releasing the name until they notify the family. He was not an MU student, according to a release. MUPD sent students an email regarding the death investigation in hopes of uncovering who the man was, Weimer said.
The media release described the individual as white, in his late teens to early 20s with a slender build and approximately 6 feet tall. He also has a large birthmark on his left calf.
MUPD encourages anyone with information to call Sergeant Shawn Spalding at 573-882-5928 or 573-864-8571.
