The season is over for both the men’s and women’s cross-country teams.
The Tiger men finished 11th out of 26 teams at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet, while the women landed the 12th spot out of 32. The top two teams on both the men’s and women’s side qualified for NCAA Championships.
Runners can qualify for NCAA Championships as individuals by finishing in the top four athletes who were not on qualifying teams. Unfortunately for Mizzou, no Tiger runners were able to make it as an individual.
Sophomore Karissa Schweizer, who made the NCAA Championships as a freshman, finished in 25th place. This earned her All-Regional honors.
Junior Teylar Adelsberger had her strongest race of the season, finishing in 30th place. Junior Nicole Mello, freshman Kelli Jackson and sophomore Jamie Kempfer rounded out the top five for the Tiger women.
With all five of their top runners returning in 2016, the Tigers will look to jump into one of the top two spots at next year’s regional competition. Junior Kaitlyn Fischer and freshman Kate Smith, two of the Tigers’ top runners, will also be back from injury next season.
Junior Dan Roe led the charge for the Tiger men. Roe finished in 42nd place and junior Jordan Cook followed in 57th. Sophomore Sheldon Keence, junior Drew White and junior Ollie Lockley rounded out the scoring runners for the Tigers.
Like the women, all of the men’s top five runners will be back in 2016.
“We are really proud of the effort both teams put forth out there today,” coach Marc Burns said to Mizzou Athletics. “We just have to get better over the next year so that we can come back to regionals next year ready to battle for a qualifying spot.”
