Three new curators have been appointed to serve on the UM System Board of Curators, filling three out of the five empty seats on the nine-member board.
Gov. Eric Greitens nominated Jeff Layman, Jamie Farmer and Darryl Chatman, all of whom studied at MU, to the board Wednesday, according to a [news release](https://governor.mo.gov/news/archive/governor-greitens-appoints-three-new-university-missouri-curators). All three nominations pend approval by the state Senate.
The student representative position on the board is still vacant, as are two curator seats. Patrick Graham was nominated as the student representative by former Gov. Jay Nixon last year, but his nomination was withdrawn by Greitens last month.
Layman and Farmer replaced former curators Donald Cupps and Pamela Henrickson. The two former curators’ terms expired Jan. 1, but they still voted at last week’s board meeting so that at least five curators were present to hold quorum.
Layman studied business at MU and graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management. He is a senior portfolio management director for Morgan Stanley.
Farmer graduated from the Trulaske College of Business at MU and received an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. She is the president of the Farmer Holding Company, a parent company of construction-related businesses.
Chatman served as the deputy director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture under Nixon. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees in animal science and a J.D. from MU, among other degrees. During a portion of his time at MU, Chatman was a linebacker for the Missouri Tigers’ football team.
The curator nominations come less than a week after the board met for the first time in 2017 on Feb. 9 and 10 at MU. The next Board of Curators meeting will be April 27-28 at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla.
