Led by another dominant performance from junior guard Sophie Cunningham, a lot of team basketball and a very hot start, Mizzou came out of Thursday’s matchup in Oxford, Mississippi, with an easy 67-48 win over Ole Miss.
Mizzou had the game all but won early, as the Tigers got out to a 20-2 lead with 4:29 left in the first quarter of play and never looked back.
Starting center Cierra Porter was out with flu-like symptoms, but even without their top rebounder, the Tigers were dominant on the boards, with 52 total rebounds. Missouri also paired its 25 field goals with 24 assists, spreading the ball around throughout the game.
The Tigers were once again helped to victory by a strong performance from Cunningham, who led all scorers. Her 20 points and 10 rebounds on the night marked her eighth career double-double. Sophomore forward Hannah Schuchts also provided for the Tigers, scoring a season-high 12 points off the bench. Jordan Frericks also had 12 points for Mizzou.
The Tigers will suit up next on Sunday at 4 p.m. CT as they take on the Arkansas Razorbacks at Mizzou Arena.
