Quality breakfast food can be hard to find if you are living on a McDonald’s budget with cravings for something a little better than that.
I’m here to tell you that Günter Hans’ waffle bar is the answer.
This past Saturday, Günter Hans — located on Hitt Street — brought back their Saturday waffle bar which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every weekend. Customers pay $6.99 for a waffle and unlimited toppings. Let me say that one more time: unlimited toppings.
When I typically order waffles, I pick out the toppings when I place my order and the server comes out with a waffle with just a couple chocolate chips on it. However, when I was served my waffle last Saturday, I went up to the topping bar and put as many chocolate chips on it as I wanted.
It makes going out to breakfast a little more fun. It gives you the ability to go to the waffle bar on multiple weekends without getting sick of it because you can make your waffle different each time. I know I’ll be back.
The waffle bar consisted of lots of sweets and syrups, but they also had fruit, so there was something for everyone. Since everyone was there for the waffles (obviously), it was a little crammed and somewhat of a stressful experience at the waffle bar. However, it was worth every bite once I was back at my table.
In addition to the beauty of the unlimited toppings, the waffle itself was wonderful. It was more caramelized than your average waffle, which made it extra sweet and enjoyable.
$6.99 may seem a little expensive for a waffle, but the price is worth what you get at Günter Hans. Your bill may be pricier, given that the pub and cafe also offers bottomless mimosas on Saturdays, but that part is up to you. I’m just advocating for the waffles.
