Senior Hayden Buckley took the attention away from Missouri’s middling finish at the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, this weekend by claiming an individual title for the third time this season.

Buckley entered the final round tied for 10th place but tied for the lowest score of the final round with 64 and used it to propel himself to a score of 202. He finished with a one-stroke victory over North Florida’s Philip Knowles and South Florida’s Claudio Correa.

Freshman Jamie Stewart was the second-highest finisher for the Tigers. He placed tied for 30th at 213 after being tied with Buckley in 10th place at the start of the final round.

Junior Matt Echelmeier and freshman Jack Parker both finished tied for 58th with a score of 220. Senior Trevor Ullestad rounded out the team, finishing tied for 66th at 222.

The story was different for the team as a whole, which only managed to finish seventh out of the 16 teams competing despite Buckley’s win.

The weekend was only the second time this season that the Tigers failed to finish in the top five, and it was their lowest finish overall.

Buckley and the Tigers will look to get back to replicating their fall successes at the Auburn Tiger Invitational on March 4.
