Missouri closed out its regular season on Sunday in College Station, Texas, with a dismal 82-63 loss to No. 17 Texas A&M in a game in which a usually efficient Tiger offense sputtered from the start.

The Tigers, who shot 47 percent from the field for the entire regular season, missed 37 of their 60 field goal attempts on Sunday and finished just 38 percent from the field. Mizzou ended with three Tigers in double figures. Junior Cierra Porter had 11 points, senior Jordan Frericks had 12 and junior Sophie Cunningham led the Tigers with 19 points before fouling out with 4:03 left in the final quarter.

Much like Mizzou’s matchup against Auburn in mid-February, the Tigers couldn’t seem to move the ball through an active zone defense, which led to miscommunication throughout the game and sloppy turnovers.

Mizzou finished with 15 turnovers, which generated 17 points on the other end for the Aggies.

The Tiger defense also fell flat on Sunday, allowing two opposing players to score 20 or more points for just the third time this season. Freshman Chennedy Carter led all scorers with 23 points and junior guard Danni Williams also had 20 points for the Aggies.

With last night’s loss, Mizzou closed out its regular season 23-6 overall and 11-5 in conference, finishing tied for fourth in the SEC with Tennessee, Texas A&M and LSU.

The Tigers enter the SEC Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee, as the sixth seed. They’ll receive a one-game bye and play the winner of the Florida-Ole Miss game on March 1.
